The best tattoos come from the great inspiration and ideas which spark inpsiration for both my client and myself. This has defintely been the year of watercolor tattoos - a style I adore - but I also look for darker, layered, illustrative styles, both painterly and neotraditional or new school.
I have been a child of the arts all my life, pursuing it through school and earning a BFA in oil painting at the American Academy of Art in Chicago.
My interest in tattooing goes back almost as far as my interest in art. It's a form of expression that is rebellious, profound, as old as civilization, and ever-changing with our modern culture. With my background in art and attraction to tattoos, it seems only natural that I would find myself with a tattoo machine in my hand. I don't have any one favorite style of tattooing, but my favorite pieces are always the custom ones, totally unique to my client and their own life story.
When I'm not splashing around paint and ink in the studio, I enjoy long urban hikes with my dog, eating tons of sushi, and getting sweaty at a good rock show or by the jukebox at a dive bar.
